About Me

Hi there! I’m The Romance Book Fairy and I’m here to talk to you about romance books, as you can already guess by the name of this blog. My favorite thing in the world is reading. My go to books are romances in many different genres and subgenres. 😍

Sadly, there are not many people in my real life to whom I can talk about books, books, books. Hence, The Romance Book Fairy book blog was born. It’s the place where I can gush about my favorite novels and authors, swoon over my book boyfriends, and share some info on exciting new releases. And just maybe with some luck from book fairies, I can also find some bookish online friends with whom to share my thoughts on the best romance stories. 🤩

“Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.”

― Anna Quindlen

When I was younger, I liked to read time to time, however, I had friends, school, first crushes and life to experience, so there wasn’t enough time in the day to read too many books.

Now that I’m in my thirties, I have had my fun, I have settled down, and I’m ready for some experiences that wouldn’t exactly be possible to live trough in my real life. I want to feel danger, excitement and dark exhilaration in the safety of my house. I want to experience a hear shattering epic love story over and over. I wan to see places and meet exotic creatures that don’t exist in real life.

My life is a bit boring in a routine kind of way and there is no magic here, so I read to escape reality. I love to read so much, because reading gives me everything that I crave and need but don’t want to experience in my actual life, like suspense, mystery, time travel, magic and having so many different love interests at once. 😉 Also Anne Tyler says it perfectly:

“I read so I can live more than one life in more than one place.”

― Anne Tyler

🦋Favorite Book Genres and Subgenres

I’ll be honest here and admit that I love to devour some dark and twisted romance tales. Stories that provoke strong and raw emotions. Stories that are quite exhilarating and breath stopping in a scary kind of way. But don’t get me wrong as I don’t equate these fiction stories to the real life. I don’t consider these dark romances as something romantic or healthy in real life relationships.

In fiction, I hate to love and love to hate those possessive, controlling and overprotective Alphaholes. However, in real life, I would run as fast and far as I can from those types of men whom I love in fiction. I wouldn’t want to actually experience in real life what I enjoy in these dark romance books. So if you see me rating a book with some toxic or abusive relation ship five stars, it doesn’t mean that I support such type of relationship in real life. In my opinion it’s just a fiction meant for mature audience who understand the difference between heathy and unhealthy relationships and who won’t romanticize dark romance.

On other note, I don’t have any triggers for reading, however, I prefer not to have any animal cruelty in the novels I read.

“Every great love starts with a great story…”

― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

I prefer adult and new adult romance books in general (yup, give me here those dark, suspenseful and steamy stories to feed my desire to feel strong emotions in all possible ranges from good to horrifying), except when it comes to fantasy, as I love some good young adult fantasy with some romance (yup, give me here some magic and swoon worthy hero too feed my heart with adventure and sweet love). Here are some of my favorite genres and subgenres:

  • Romantic Suspense
  • Dark Romance – with hate-to-love, arranged marriage, forced proximity, kidnapping, captivity, stalking, age gap and taboo love tropes, including bully romances
  • Mafia and Organized Crime Romance
  • Historical Romance – especially the ones set in 19th century England
  • Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy with romance subplot
  • Romantic Comedy – especially with hate-to-love, fake relationship and accidentally married tropes
  • NA Contemporary Romance – set in college/university with some angsty romance but no OW/OM drama and no cheating
  • YA Fantasy Romance
  • Others: sports romance, MC romance, reverse harem romance, fairy tale retellings…

I HATE love triangles and cheating in my romances, also I’m not a fan of a second chance (when the couple has been separated for years and been with other people) and an ex boyfriend’s father romance or a ménage with father and his sons.

“Romance is the glamour which turns the dust of everyday life into a golden haze. ”

“Romance novels are birthday cake and life is often peanut butter and jelly. I think everyone should have lots of delicious romance novels lying around for those times when the peanut butter of life gets stuck to the roof of your mouth.”

― Janet Evanovich

I mostly enjoy reading one book at a time. However, sometimes if I need to take a break or one of my most anticipated books show up, then I can start a second book without finishing the first one.

I usually rate books based on the level of entertainment, enjoyment, emotional depth, and my connection with the characters and story. I equate contemporary romances to real life if they aren’t considered dark, so in those books I look for realistic situations and events, and for healthy relationships. With dark romances, I don’t expect healthy or romantic relationships but instead I look for strong emotions with all the heart-break and danger. Also I can forgive some unrealistic scenes in romantic suspense and mafia / organized crime romances.
